Khula Village, on the edge of the spectacular Isimangaliso Wetland Park, a World Heritage Site, is home to a community whose roots in this area go back thousands of years. In Khula you will see the dynamic interface between a contemporary Zulu community, their cultural roots and the wilderness around them.

The WOWZULU Marketplace along the main road into St Lucia is your friendly home in Khula Village. Let our team tell you the stories of our village and community. Sip excellent barista coffee, try a ‘taste of local’ snack; buy locally-made craft and other gifts; and learn about the fascinating history of this area in the adjacent Simunye Tourism Information Centre.

From here, explore Khula Village and connect with its people on bicycle or on foot. The rides or walks take you past places where daily life happens: homes, schools, creches, churches, sangomas (traditional healers), a traditional court, tuck shops and taverns. Optional length 5 to 7 km.

The Veyane Cultural Village, right next to the WOWZULU Marketplace, gives visitors a vibrant experience of traditional Zulu culture. Veyane also offers comfortable backpacker accommodation in its beautiful rural setting, as do other homestays in Khula Village.
