A sanctuary for indigenous butterflies
Just five minutes up the road from our WOWZULU market place lies the Manukelana Indigenous Nursery and craft shop. This fascinating ecotourism business was started by four passionate locals from Khula Village. Visitors are welcomed into the craft shop which sells a wide variety of 100% recycled goods or the nursery filled with indigenous plants and trees of the area. The main attraction, however, is the large butterfly dome and hatchery. For R35 per person, a guide will proudly show you this sanctuary for indigenous butterflies.
The tour includes a guided presentation and introduction to butterflies. This takes about 10-15 minutes following which guests are welcomed into the butterfly dome where the guide accompanies you to show you all of the different butterflies, their host plants and other interesting facts. Guests can spend as much time in the butterfly house as they wish, take photos or just relax and enjoy the tranquil surrounds and wide diversity of the dome. This attraction can be enjoyed on the longest of our 3 bicycle routes round Khula Village.
